BEWARE: PC RIP-OFF ARTIST ON THE PROWL
Please be aware whom you call the next time your PC breaks down.
Avoid calling individuals who advertise in newspapers.
Check them out first. Ask for calling-cards, where they operate from, check their invoices to see if they have valid addresses.
Avoid at all cost this particular individual
Goes by the name of PETER SOO, Tel:0172691232
Regularly advertises in the Sun (newspaper)
Late twenties, blonde-dyed hair with a earing on the left ear.
Drives a ugly-green Proton Aeroback (reg. number unknown)
Claims to be operating as family business from USJ but
produces NO calling-cards or invoices/bills with NO letter-heads.
He usually checks your PC and says he must take back the CPU
for repairs. Thats where the rip-off begins. His usual minimum quotation
DOUBLES when the CPU is returned claiming there were other damages. He even shows you the damaged replaced parts BUT those are usually taken from other PCs. These so-called parts are usually put away in his bag to avoid the customer from examining closely.
He then claims to have upgraded your PC with additional parts and costs BUT politely adds that he could remove them if you do not need them. That prompts you to agree with additional costs thrown in.
Finally you get a bill thats 3 times the original quote and you will have to accept it.
If your PC breaks down again, forget about back-up service cos this guy would not answer your calls or come up with vague excuses that he is outstation or his grandmother is in hospital. (a month ago, this grandmother passed away in Penang. Last week, she was admitted to UH, KL) I mean this guy has the uncanny ability to do it without a conscience and with impunity.
REMEMBER THE NAME, REMEMBER THE TELEPHONE NUMBER AND AVOID ALL THE HEARTACHES.
This is a social-service message!!!!!

If his act is such rampant, why don't you send a letter to the Ministry of Domestic Trades & Consumer Affairs instead of ping flood to PPS?
Thanks for the tip, Looking Glass. This reminds me of a guy who goes around repairing washing machine, and like you said, always cart it off, then tells you 'rat has eaten some wiring from the mother-board' that cost Rm200+ to change. 6 months later, the machine kaputs again, and I was so stupid as to call this guy again, and again it was the mother-board being eaten by rats (again Rm200+). The third time, I sent it to another repairman, and it was just one of the inlet valves not working (Rm50).
