Three judges presided. Only one came to court with his 'family-jewels' intact. As for the other two, well they chose to leave theirs at home. Hence the verdict that put paid to the hopes and aspirations of an individual who wanted nothing but an ordinary life in the country of her birth.
But then again, could we blame the two in question???. Look, I'm sure these poor guys must've agonised 'blood, sweat & tears' before arriving at this decision. They must've confronted their numerous fears before deciding to throw in the towel.......simply gave in to the dark side......Darth Vader, Maul and the whole sinister bunch. Told Yoda to go fly a kite. How tragic.
OK, on a serious note, let's examine those fears.
1) fear of being ostracised by their families (man! that's a tough one to take)
2) fear of loosing their pension (ouch!! that hurt)
3) fear of being sneered at public functions (a definite no, no)
4) fear of being transferred to remote areas (what?...and miss the bright lights? No way!!)
5) fear of being in cahoots with the 'infidels' (very heavy!!)
6) fear of being snubbed by their children (sorry! no more good night kisses!)
7) fear of loosing their 'jewels' (hence the reason for leaving them at home) to the lynch-mob with a
herd mindset that gathered outside the courtroom (sorry! no 'jewel' re-attachment surgeons in
this country)
8) fear of their children being deprived of opportunities like scholarships, house/car loans etc (unable
keep up with the Joneses)
9) fear of loosing their membership at their local country-club (sorry! cannot sign for drinks anymore)
10) WORST OF ALL, fear of their wives 'closing-shop' albeit temporarily which could send them
scurrying to scandulous situations ( hello Ricky? Got pretty girl? wife close shop today lah!!)
Get my drift?....
As for L.J., all is not lost. This so-called 'landmark' decision (hey! what's so landmark? dah biasa...as expected) has in fact provided her with solid-grounds for seeking political-asylum, perhaps in a more 'socially-civilised' country that would be more conducive if she's harbouring hopes of bearing & raising kids. It could be a blessing in disguise.
If anyone thinks this decision is a setback, think again. It has only served to stir up more emotions, thus spurring the need for a greater change this country needs and believe you me, that change is already knocking on our doors.
Whatever consequences that transpire from this episode, L.J. can be assured that her name will be remembered a lot more than those two 'BUDUGAs' who came to court minus their 'jewels'.
GOD IS GREAT! THE COMPASSIONATE! THE MERCIFUL! IN ALL FAIRNESS.....Amen.
